Building Gallery
The cabin is set in a small grove of poplar trees, a nice yard to the side and a fire pit, hammock and the river straight ahead from the front porch. It is simple and comfortable. Water comes from the spring fed well next to the cabin, so there is no running water in the cabin (see the Water Use page).
Sauna
The Sauna, also built by David and friends is based on a Swedish sauna design. There is a front changing room and the sauna can hold several people. The sauna floor is made from North Branch Meduxnekeag river rocks, hand picked by David! It's a wood fire-based dry sauna. Good for cleansing the body inside and out! OR in the summer months, there is room for 2 additional people to sleep in sleeping bags.
The privy! What more can you ask for? A front porch! Very clean, but not too warm in the winter. We use a container system so odor is low to non-existent! Just remember to use the ash bucket! There is a reason for the Privy....there is no running water in the cabin, so there is no indoor plumbing.
