Water & Refrigeration

The only 2 parts of your experience at our cabin that could be considered "rough" are water and refrigeration. We will gladly show you the ropes as it is fun to experience. You will gain a deep appreciation for your generous supplies of water and your comforts of home.
The Set Up
We have a hand pump, spring fed well that provides great drinking water, cooking water and cleansing water. We pump a 5 gallon bucket which goes along way and more can always be pumped as needed.
For cleaning up there is a pitcher & basin with handtowels and facecloths. If it's summer, we have an outside sunshower set up and for inside, we have a hula-hoop shower set up right next to the wood stove. There is also the sauna which provides a deep cleaning. None of the options are quick but they are fun to experience!
We have a spring box for items that need to be kept cold. It's not the same temperature as a fridge, but it keeps your milk, juice, eggs, butter and meat from going bad. It is a litte walk from the cabin but accessible during the summer. OR you may choose to bring coolers and use ice to keep things right by the cabin.
The History
We lived in this cabin for 4 years. We managed just fine on daily basis for our water use and keeping food fresh. It can be done. The water is great to drink. Outside showers in the summer time are fun and refreshing. Inside showers by the woodstove border on a spa experience. The sauna offers deep cleansing and destresses a person. The walk to the spring box offered a chance to see what wildflowers had come out, feel the soft moss underfoot and gave more time to appreciate the food you were planning to prepare. We do not see it as a big detterent for a few vacation days. We encourage you to give it a try.
